He Was Trying To Save Me FROM THE BEES

My dog Geronimo is full stories and life. We recently added another story to the already long list of stories

Last weekend was yard work. We are planting some beautiful day lillies that had been a gift from our neighbors. The logical place for these great plants was along the back fence. We just needed to move the wood pile and then plant them.

I started throwing the logs on the ground and was intent on that job when I finally noticed that bees were everywhere. They swarming around me, biting me, stinging, etc. I must have screamed or yelled - I can't remember. Anyway, I finally got away from the bees and was examing the damage to my hands when I noticed protector and campanion, Geronimo, had taken it upon himself to defend and was fighting, attaching the bees - or at least that is what he thought. He was in the middle of the swarm bees trying to eat them. They were in the meantime stinging on the face.

Finally, he obeyed my yelling to get away and come to me (he never was too quick to obey).

We both went into the house and he just couldn't figure out what happened. He tried to hide under the furniture, thinking that would help his stinging face. He was just miserable.

But he was brave. Maybe not so smart.

Thanks Geronimo.

Not Enough Summers

A friend shared with me some wisdom this last week. It is pretty simple but powerful. There just are not enough summers in our lives.

So best be advised to not waste them. We had this conversation on a hot humid night playing golf. We were walking and not hitting the ball particularly well that night. However, I did get that ball over that pond for the first time on the front nine of Minor. It even landed on the water and skipped to the land like a rock. What a thrill.

Anyway, I really thought this was a great statement. Was feeling a little guilty about enjoying myself this summer playing golf and in particular playing in a tournament this weekend instead of working. But oh, well! Life is short and there are definitely not enough summers in my life!

Hope you are all enjoying yourself this summer and not letting all of the negativity and concerns getting to you too much!
